T-Day Cooking

We went to a good friend's house for Thanksgiving so we didn't have to do all the cooking and cleaning that usually comes with the day. To remedy this Mom and I did a little cooking on Saturday, a great way to spend a rainy afternoon in Port Angeles. We made yummy Dr. Ross's Rolls. I am not sure who he or she is, but their rolls are fabulous! Here they are after rising, ready to go in the oven...

While those were baking we started a yummy pot of Lentil Soup. Thank you to Krista in my office for the recipe, it ended up being so delicious and hearty that I am ready to make another pot. We chopped onions and carrots and threw them in the pot with stock and lentils. Oh and there was bacon too, delish!

A lot of simmering and voila soup for days.

It's Saturday Night...

It's Saturday night, well a few weeks ago and what do two cute & funny girls do? Do they dress up and hit the town? Do they go out to the movies? Do they go to the mall? Do they stay home and play the wii? NO! They stay home and...

do a puzzle! 1,000 pieces of fun to be exact! I had made a feeble attempt to start the puzzle and so Angie came over for the assist. Three hours later we were done and for a reward we treated ourselves to Little Ceasars bread sticks and made brownies. Don't worry we used apple sauce for our health :) Oh and we had apples and cheese, so that was a healthy little dinner. We capped off the night watching "Mannequin" which I actually have on DVD. What a great movie, long live the 80's!

Beautiful Day

Yesterday was Angie and Steve's Wedding and it was an absolutely perfect day. It started out with a trip to the Market for fresh flowers and we found the most wonderful orange and red bouquets for the tables. The weather was also great, blue sky and sun, a lucky break in Seattle to be sure. The ceremony was at her Dad's in Arlington and it was a beautiful simple ceremony in a tent on the basketball court :) After that it was time to eat some food, sit in the sun, cut the cake and sign the marriage certificate to make it legal! Hey we were surrounded by lawyers so that shouldn't be hard right? Here is a pic. of Angie and Steve putting up with all of us wanting to take pictures of them on this great day!
Angie, Courtney and I had a moment of remembering that we are approaching our 10 year anniversary of meeting at the University of Washington, amazing!
After the ceremony and reception it was off to bowling! That's right, they had rented out 6 lanes at a tiny bowling alley in the next town over and so it was off to bowling, nice outfits and all. It was a total blast, everyone joined in the fun and it was a perfect ending to a perfect day. Here are the girls in our bowling shoes and colorful "not socks" provided by the bride!
After bowling Angie & Steve, Court & Sean, Jannine & Andy and I headed to the Tulalip Casino. They had a room there for the night, but first we all grabbed dinner at the buffet and then did a little gambling. We all came out either even or ahead so it was a fun time. I took this pic. of Angie and Steve outside of the casino, notice the matching Hawkeye clothes, Steve's dream :)

Now my friends are off to Greece for their Honeymoon! I wish them all the best on this new adventure and all the happiness in the world!

Pedicure!

What better way to end the day than with a pedicure and thai food! Today was another great lazy day, there is nothing better sometimes than staying in PJ's till the afternoon and just running chores in sweats and flip flops. So this afternoon during a period of sitting around Angie decided that today would be a great day for pedicures! My first one actually. She was sweet enough to get me a gift certificate for a pedicure for my birthday and who would have thought I would be using it this soon. So at 6 we headed down to the little nail place in downtown Edmonds. We sat in big overstuffed chairs and chatted while my feet were soaked, clipped, buffed, puffed and painted! And yes Ang, I am now hooked on it after only one time. Especially with cute flowers on toes :)

After that we headed over to Thai Cottage for some yummy thai food to finish off a great lazy Sunday in Seattle!

Weekend Extravaganza!

I have to remember that I can still post even if I don't have a picture to go with it. So in the effort to get a quick update posted I will do just that. Doesn't the title make it sound like it was a super fantastic weekend? I was trying to lure you blog readers in :) It was a good weekend, how could a three day weekend be bad? Friday was a fun day of hanging with Angie, Steve and Angie's family. We went to a festival that wasn't much of a festival, we braved Wal-Mart twice, we had a BBQ, we looked at old pictures and we had a fire with s'mores and a great fireworks show put on by Ben. Saturday was the first day of the Edmonds Summer Market! Hooray! Angie and I soaked in every second of it, the sights and sounds were just the same right down to the Peruvian musicians and the Great Harvest Bread Co. with their HUGE samples!! I love the summer in Seattle. Saturday night Angie's nephew Owen came to "play" and it was fun to have him there, what a bundle of energy he is. Sunday was a quick clean day since we got a late start and there was some shopping that needed to be done. Old Navy for tops, Target for the necessary stuff and a quick stop at the grocery. All in all it was a great weekend, nothing over the top, just a fun time for everyone!

Girls Night In

This past Friday while Steve was out on the town with the boys for his bachelor party Angie and I enjoyed a quiet night at home. "Guys Night Out, Girls Night In" we decided to call it. I rented the movie "Definitely Maybe" which had been highly recommended by Jen and we decided to have a movie night. When Angie got home from a family dinner it was time for the movie, but we needed something more, some little snack. Steve wasn't home to make us popcorn, he makes the best and Angie was on day 17 of no sweets or treats so what else could we have? Angie has been on a kick of having fruit and yogurt for dessert so we got out the cute little parfait bowls that were originally used for our holiday centerpieces and created a delicious dessert for a great girls night in. We layered bananas, grapes, nectarines and strawberries with vanilla yogurt and it was a perfect end to our hectic week!

Birthday Camping!

In my continuing effort to expand my horizons(that sounds serious doesn't it?) I am going camping! Angie's friend Jannine and her husband and 2 girls are going camping the weekend of my birthday and invited us (me, Angie and Steve) to go along. I was hesitant for several reasons: First, my only camping experience was when I was in Camp Fire Girls when I was 6 and it rained, I couldn't bring my own pillow and the other girl that we shared the tent with was tiny, but somehow sucked up half the tent! Second, I usually joke that my idea of camping is staying in a Super 8 motel. Well Angie wasn't going to let any of that fly, so I agreed and am so glad I did. This was my favorite part of the conversation:
Me: "o.k. I will go camping"
Angie: "Great I will make the reservation tomorrow"
Me: "Now I just need to make sure that I have stuff for camping"
Angie: "Well we need to get you a head lamp and a camp chair and you will be all set!"

Heck if I had known that that was all I needed for camping I might have done it a long time ago!

My Sox

Even though I have moved to Seattle I am still a Red Sox fan and it is amazing the amount of grief I get for it! It was bad enough during football season to cheer on the Patriots, but this is ridiculous. The Sox just finished a 3 game series against the M's and I watched each game of course. There were tons of Sox fans at Safeco Field and it was awesome to see Red Sox Nation out in full force. It was a bit of a let down however when they lost the second and third games and even though I know they don't do as well on the road, I didn't like seeing them lose especially to the M's who aren't having a great season. Hopefully they will play better when they are back in July and I get to go for my birthday!

Look at that Face!

In an attempt to play catch up due to a serious lack of blogging let me see if I can fill in some blanks. I get reminded by Angie every once in a while, that I haven't posted anything new. I tried to tell her that it was a sympathy strike to support the t.v. writers, but that never flew!

So here we go...

The QFC by our house had a grand re-opening and Angie and I happened to be there getting some treats for an afternoon of wii playing back at the house. We walked in and there was a table with a guy doing caricatures so as is usually the case I didn't want to do it and Angie told me there was no way we were going to pass it up, it would only take a second. So we waited in line and walked out of the QFC with Oreo Cakesters (we are slightly obsessed with them) and these awesome pictures. We tried to convince Steve to go after we got home so that we could put all three of them up on the wall, but he wasn't budging...DARN!

Where have you been?

I have been scolded several times for not updating my blog so I thought that I had better get something posted quick! I felt like I didn't have a lot to say and there really hasn't been anything that has happened lately where I said, "Now I have to remember that so I can blog about it!" Christmas was wonderful and relaxing, spent with my "adopted family" the Sisteks.
I worked a few days and then had more days off for the New Year's holiday, what a treat. We rang in 2008 with a few too many drinks and the resulting spazy dancing was captured in a few great photos. As Angie already wrote, New Year's day was the laziest day I have had in a long time, I think we all left a permanent butt imprint on the couch that day. It must be said though that sometimes it is great to have a day like that with no obligations and nothing calling you away from the t.v. except the occasional snack break! So welcome 2008, lets hope this is another great year filled with new adventures, good friends and fun times!!!!!
